May God bless you, and thanks for visiting our website.

St. Andrew’s United (Westwood) and Norwood United are distinct local congregations of The United Church of Canada.

Located in Asphodel-Norwood Township, in Peterborough County, both congregations were established nearly two centuries ago, and have partnered as a “Pastoral Charge” since 1969.

Our Mission:

Here's how we express our Mission:

We, the people of the Norwood-Westwood Pastoral Charge are striving to be a Christian community.

We live our faith by worshipping God together in Christ, welcoming, respecting and caring for all people, learning and growing in the Spirit, valuing our heritage and nurturing our children, and extending ourselves beyond the church walls into the world.

Jesus and the Children

(image in stained glass at Norwood United Church)

We welcome babies and young children!  They are so important to us that we expect our worship to include squawks, squeals, laughter, crying, running up and down and around the aisles, crawling under pews.  We know God's blesses us in "the thunder of small feet!"

If you desire "peace and stillness" for meditative contemplation or individual worship there are 166 hours each week (give or take) when our church buildings are much, much quieter... please ask!

Please see more info about us for information about our Sunday Schools and our other ministries with and for children and youth...

Spiritual Care:

The “Covenant” between the Minister, the congregations of The Norwood-Westwood Pastoral Charge, and The United Church of Canada (represented by the Region), assumes that the various spiritual care functions of the Minister are undertaken in cooperation with the Session (Elders) who oversee the spiritual life of the congregations.   In living out these duties, Rev. McLean hopes to honour the spiritual life of all who seek pastoral support, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, ability, sexual orientation/identity and economic circumstance, and will encourage both congregations and all our members and families to learn, grow and be living signs of Christ's loving embrace of all humanity in all our wondrous God-given diversity.    We're not perfect in this endeavour.   Praise God for the room we're given to grow...together!
